Back To The Harbor

My handsome son is now a second year university student. My beautiful daughter is in grade 10 .  Sure we have had our ups and downs in life but dealing with the very highs and extreme lows of BP does not have to be one of them thanks to proper care and support.

Other then my mother and aunt, I was not aware of other symptoms I displayed were typical of other Bipolar people. I have met some wonderful friends in Harbor of Refuge and learned how important it is to support others with this disorder.

Over the months and months of chatting in this room, I have come to realize what a tremendous collection of talent came night after night.  It is important to make people feel they are not alone but it's critical to encourage them to express themselves.

People have all sorts of talents, they just need to be encouraged to express them. We all go through dry spells from time to time but the talent in each of us is still there, waiting to emerge.

I would like to thank all my friends from Harbor of Refuge, those that I have met and those I have chatted with for encouraging me to express myself through poetry. You have been a great inspiration.

Sue's Poem

Feeling alone with your thoughts
Experiences in life nobody could understand
Or so I thought, until I met all of you
Lost in a world
Needing to peel back the layers
Reflecting about a past
Revealing love and compassion
To be shared
Importantly , understood, not rejected
Like it has been time and time again.
We may be a bit different
Our camera may take a unique picture
If you understand what it means
Then you are one of us.
